British Council Travel Grants Call Open

britishcouncil_researchlinkslockup_630x354The British Council, working with the Higher Education International Unit, have opened a call for proposals for travel grants under the Researcher Links initiative, as part of the Researcher Links – Newton Fund, and separately as Researcher Links.

Researchers based in the UK and one of the partner countries may apply to spend up to 3-6 months (depends on the host country) in a research institution, either in the UK (if researcher is based in a partner country), or one of the partner countries (if researcher is based in the UK).

Partner countries under Researcher Links – Newton Fund: Egypt, Kazakhstan, Mexico, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam

Partner countries under Researcher Links: Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia, South Korea

New call for British Council workshop grants to give early career researchers opportunities to build international connections

britishcouncil_researchlinkslockup_630x354The British Council has launched a call for workshop grant proposals as part of the five-year Researcher Links initiative to encourage international research collaboration between ambitious early career researchers from the UK and 18 countries around the world.  A ‘call to action’ has been issued for leading researchers to propose themes for bilateral workshops to be held in one of the 18 partner countries, which will bring together early career researchers to discuss their research and start to build international relationships.

Unless specified otherwise in the guidelines, all research areas are covered, including the natural sciences, humanities and social sciences. The call guidelines and application form can be accessed online.

The call will be open from 17/04/2014 until midnight (BST) of 09/06/2014.

Countries eligible for 2014 Workshop Call

The countries involved at this stage are; Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Qatar, Russia, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam.

Call for Applications: UnBox LABS 2014

AHRC/British Council/UnBox/SIN: UK-India Joint Funding Initiative

The UK’s Arts and Humanities Research Council is delighted to announce a call for applications to attend the UnBox LABS in India in February 2014.

The UnBox LABS 2014 is an exciting project that brings together creative practitioners, artists and researchers from the UK & India for a 10-day lab experience that explores the theme of ‘FUTURE CITIES’. The project is a collaboration between UnBox, British Council, the AHRC, Science & Innovation Network, supported by the REACT Creative Economy Hub and the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, India.

8 successful AHRC applicants will be selected to attend, together with Indian researchers and UK and Indian creative practitioners. The LABS will be guided by principles of design led thinking, co-creation and action research and allow participants to self-select their fellow team members, exploring ideas and developing responses to the challenges of our city futures.
